The Human Resources Department provides quality employment services for County Offices and Departments in order to effectively and efficiently recruit, select, retain, develop and manage a highly skilled, productive and diverse workforce.





Human Resources provides information and resources to the County’s management in areas of recruitment and employee relations. The department is relied upon by the Board of County Commissioners as expected in the fields of employment benefits, compensation, policies and procedures, as well as coordinating job related training programs for staff.

Current job opportunities with the County are posted on the main bulletin board of the Courthouse, located on the second floor main lobby, the Human Resources bulletin board, located just outside of the office, on the bulletin board in the law and justice center and on the County’s webpage.

The Human Resources department consists of one full-time employee; the Human Resources Director. Human Resources works directly for the Board of County Commissioners to maintain open lines of communication with all elected officials, department heads and employees. Contact with Human Resources is welcome and encouraged.



The Human Resources department is located on the first floor of the main courthouse. The space under the office door can be used in instances when Human Resources is not immediately available.

Deputy Sheriff & Correction Officer Positions:

Entry Level Field Deputy and Corrections Officer Positions:

First, check the job board for open positions:

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office only accepts applications for these positions when there are openings. However, written and physical ability testing for entry level field deputy and corrections officer positions is conducted on a continuous basis through Public Safety Testing. Please visit for the testing schedule and costs. Public Safety Testing will require each applicant to complete an application which needs to be completed in its entirety along with a written and physical ability test in order to then apply for an Entry Level Field Deputy or Correction Officer Position.

Lateral Field Deputy Sheriff and Correction Officer Positions:

The Grant County Sheriff's Office accepts applications for Lateral Deputy Positions continuously. Lateral Field Deputy and Correction Officer Positions applicants must complete the Public Safety Testing application in its entirety along with a Physical test prior to applying with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. To apply for the Physical test, please sign up with Public Safety Testing, by going to After completing the required application and tests, please visit the Grant County job board to apply with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at Please be sure to fill out the application completely, this includes submitting a cover letter, resume and answering all supplemental questions. Any unfinished applications will not be considered.

*Depending on an applicant's cumulative score from Public Safety Testing for both Entry Level and Lateral entry positions; the applicant may be requested to participate in an oral board interview with members of Sheriff's Office and Civil Service Board. The score from the oral interview is combined with the score from public safety testing and then ranked on a list of applicants qualified for hire. The Grant County Civil Service Commission will then forward the list to the Sheriff’s Office, after which you may be contacted for an individual interview directly with the Sheriff’s Office.

Entry level and lateral applicants are encouraged to complete the Public Safety Testing process at any time so that their name may be given to the Sheriff's Office to be considered for an oral interview.
